NCIS and Law & Order Netflix Shuffle: Which Seasons Are Leaving and What’s Coming Next

Big changes are landing on Netflix’s crime-drama shelf. Two of TV’s most iconic procedurals — NCIS and Law & Order — are getting library refreshes within weeks of each other, and fans should know exactly what’s leaving and what’s arriving before they lose access to their current favorites.

What’s Changing and When

Netflix has been using a “rolling library” approach for licensed procedurals instead of hosting a full 20-plus season backlog, keeping only select season batches available at any given time. That strategy is now triggering fresh swaps for both shows.

NCIS: New Seasons Land October 1

If you’ve opened Netflix recently, Seasons 18 and 19 of NCIS are already showing “Leaving Soon” tags — but the show isn’t disappearing from the platform. New seasons are confirmed to arrive on October 1, with early indications pointing toward Seasons 20 and 21, though official confirmation is still pending Netflix’s October newsletter. For completionists, Paramount+ remains the most comprehensive option with 23 seasons, while Hulu carries 11.

Law & Order: Season 25 Drops September 25

Classic Law & Order fans have reason to celebrate sooner. Netflix US currently streams Seasons 21 through 24, and Season 25 is officially confirmed to join the lineup on September 25 — timed neatly with the start of the fall broadcast season. For those wanting the full archive, Hulu carries all 20 seasons, while Peacock offers 9.

Why Netflix Keeps Rotating These Shows

Licensing an entire multi-decade series library is expensive, so rotating batches lets Netflix keep procedural content feeling fresh without the steep cost of hosting everything at once. It’s a trend that’s become increasingly common across long-running network dramas on streaming platforms.
