My Korean Boyfriend Episodes 1-4: When K-Drama Fantasy Meets Brazilian Reality

Can five Brazilian women turn their long-distance love stories into K-drama-worthy romances? Netflix’s newest cross-cultural dating reality series puts that question to the test. My Korean Boyfriend premiered January 1, 2026, following five women as they navigate cultural clashes, language barriers, and relationship drama in Seoul. Spoiler alert: reality bites harder than expected.

My Korean Boyfriend Part 1: Quick Overview

Meet the Five Brazilian Women and Their Love Stories

Morena Monaco & Su-Woong: The Almost-Perfect Couple

Already dating for a year, Morena and Su-Woong seemed destined for happiness—until his mother’s disapproval of Brazilian culture creates tension. Despite these challenges, Su-Woong proposes, and the couple celebrates their engagement with the group. However, cultural differences around dress codes and family expectations linger as unresolved issues.

Mariana Tollendal & Danny: The Online Romance

Mariana’s journey starts with heartbreak when Danny fails to pick her up from the airport, making everyone question if he even exists. When he finally appears with a single rose as an apology, Mari is instantly smitten. Their relationship develops sweetly with matching outfits and hand-holding, though Danny requests taking things slow—a stark contrast to Mari’s expressive Brazilian nature.

Katy Dias & Jack: The Compatibility Crisis

Meeting Jack on a train in Busan seemed like fate, but their in-person chemistry falls flat. Jack is introverted, allergic to cats, and dislikes going out—while Katy owns multiple cats and thrives on social interaction. After realizing they share nothing beyond working out, Katy ends the relationship amicably, requesting they remain friends.

Luanny Vital & Si-won: The Toxic Cycle

Luanny’s on-again, off-again relationship with Si-won reaches a breaking point when he criticizes Morena’s engagement ring and makes negative comments about Brazilian women having “strong personalities.” Their confrontation escalates when Luanny accuses him of cheating with a Turkish woman, refusing to apologize for anything she hasn’t done wrong.

Camila Kim: The Journey Home

Born in Seoul but raised in Brazil after being abandoned at age three, Camila returns to her birthplace for the first time. Her emotional visit to the hospital where she was born brings closure, helping her fully embrace her Brazilian identity rather than searching for romance.

The Cultural Clash Reality Check

The series exposes how K-drama fantasies rarely translate to real life. While Korean dramas romanticize grand gestures and slow-burn romance, the actual relationships struggle with:

• Communication gaps beyond just language barriers
• Different approaches to affection—Korean restraint vs. Brazilian expressiveness
• Family approval pressures that complicate relationships
• Gender role expectations that don’t always align
• Emotional expression styles that create misunderstandings

Episode 4 features celebrity reactions from Brazilian influencers and personalities watching the drama unfold, adding meta-commentary to the already complex relationships.

With Part 2 dropping January 8, expect resolutions, heartbreak, and final decisions. Will Luanny and Si-won reconcile? Can Morena’s relationship survive family pressures?
