Mumbai City FC regained their position in the top four after defeating SC East Bengal 1-0 in the ISL. Here are the three key talking points from the game.
Mohammad Nawaz saves Mumbai City FC again
Alongside Igor Angulo, Mohammad Nawaz might be the most important player that the Islanders have. He was at the top of his game today, making five key saves from 11 shots faced. There were a number of chances that could’ve ended up in the back of the net for SC East Bengal, but the goalkeeper did extremely well to keep the opposition out and maintain a clean sheet.
A strong fight from SC East Bengal
There isn’t much to play for in the case of SC East Bengal, but they didn’t let up against the defending champions. The Red and Gold brigade fought tooth and nail to at least get the equaliser and come away with a draw. But despite having more shots on goal compared to the winners, East Bengal could not find a way past Mohammad Nawaz and will be disappointed to have not scored at least one.
The top four reshuffles
With their narrow win against East Bengal, Mumbai City FC are back in the top four. They have replaced Kerala Blasters in fourth place, and have a game in hand on them as well. While they might not be able to retain their league title, they can be confident about a spot in the semifinals if they can win their next games.
