MSI and Gigabyte announce their list of boards to support Windows 11 TPM

Windows 11 TPM support is the latest requirement that Microsoft has issued to ensure that both the system and the user get full benefits from Windows 11. Recently many motherboard manufacturers have announced that they will indeed be soon releasing their motherboards complying with the Windows 11 TPM requirements.

Recently, Gigabyte confirmed its list of supported AMD and Intel motherboards for Microsoft’s Windows 11 operating system. Gigabyte announced that the company’s motherboards will feature TPM support via the BIOS itself.

After the recent declaration from BIOSTAR, Gigabyte became the second board maker to unveil its list of products supporting the TPM. Gigabyte announced that it will offer TPM 2.0 BIOS support in its Intel X299, C621, C232, C236, C246, 200, 300, 400, 500 motherboards, and AMD TRX40, 300, 400, 500 motherboards.

TPM is extremely important because it allows the system to pass the Windows 11 operating system verification test which requires at least TPM 1.2 functionality (TPM 2.0 recommended). It’s great news since now there is no need to purchase a separate TPM module as the support for the feature will already be built-in within the majority of existing motherboards.

TPM 2.0 hardware is not a must to pass TPM 2.0 verification. GIGABYTE Ultra Durable Motherboards are not only known for their world-renowned durability but also play a leading role in product design, especially when it comes to the TPM 2.0 support in the BIOS.

Lots of GIGABYTE Intel and AMD motherboards can pass the TPM 2.0 verification of the Windows 11 by simply enabling the TPM-related function in the BIOS, on which Intel X299, B250 chipset, and above platform will be the Platform Trust Technology (PTT), and TPM function on the AMD AM4 and TRX40 motherboards. By this advanced BIOS setting, GIGABYTE motherboards can pass the TPM 2.0 verification of Windows 11 to prevent TPM 2.0 support from becoming an issue to users during their system upgrade.

MSI announced its full list of AMD & Intel motherboards ready for Microsoft’s Windows 11 operating system along with TPM requirements.

MSI has listed a plethora of boards going back to Intel 100-series and AMD 300-series and also stated that some older motherboards are currently pending TPM verification. The manufacturer has listed down the motherboard chipset support and according to the information provided by MSI, all Intel 100-series motherboards and AMD Ryzen motherboards will now have TPM 2.0 functionality integrated within them.

This is NOT a Windows 11 compatible motherboard list, it simply means the motherboard BIOS supports TPM 2.0.

*Visit Intel for more information about TPM 2.0 support for Intel chipsets.

**Intel 6th/7th Gen and X-Series 9000/78xx processors are not on the list of Windows 11 compatible processors, as of 2021/07/01.

*Ryzen 1000 series and Ryzen Threadripper 1000 series (Zen1) processors are not on the list of Windows 11 compatible processors, as of 2021/07/01. Visit Microsoft for more Windows 11 information.

From the list announced by MSI, it seems that even older motherboards such as the Intel 9-series, Intel 8-Series, and X99 HEDT platform will also feature the TPM 1.2 functionality. However, even if MSI offers internal support for older motherboards, it’s actually in the hands of Microsoft to finalize the support for older chips. For more info stay tuned.
