A team of 12 members representing Dorna Sports, the global MotoGP™ commercial rights holder, recently concluded an advance reconnaissance visit to India. Led by Norma Luna, Dorna’s Events Director, the team included officials from the marketing and sponsorship teams.
Dorna Sports Conducts Preparatory Visit to India for MotoGP™ Bharat
The purpose of the visit was to assess the preparations for the highly anticipated MotoGP™ Bharat race, scheduled to take place on September 22-24 at the Buddha International Circuit. Luna, accompanied by Daniel Trujillo (Technical Director), Enrique Aguilar (Live Coverage Director), and others, meticulously surveyed the circuit. They evaluated technical aspects, inspected the broadcast setup facilities, and assessed other essential requirements to ensure the delivery of a world-class event.
Pushkar Nath Srivastava, FairStreet Sports COO and the event’s Indian promoter, expressed confidence in the venue’s ability to host the country’s biggest annual sporting spectacle. Srivastava highlighted the important operational discussions and detailed marketing, branding, sponsorship, and broadcast-related conversations held during the visit. MotoGP™ Bharat holds significant global and Indian stakeholder interest, including the government’s involvement.
Hosting MotoGP™ is also an opportunity to showcase the tourism potential of the region. During their visit, the Dorna team had the privilege of exploring the Taj Mahal, one of the world’s most iconic landmarks and a source of pride for Uttar Pradesh. Located just a two-hour drive from the racetrack, the team was captivated by the grandeur of the Taj Mahal.
MotoGP™ Bharat aims not only to attract diverse fans to witness the onsite marvels but also to provide an opportunity to explore the rich culture, heritage, and history of India.
Srivastava further emphasized that the event is expected to significantly boost the tourism industry and unlock substantial investment opportunities for the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Scheduled as the 13th race on the calendar, MotoGP™ Bharat will feature 42 teams and 84 riders across the MotoGP™, Moto2, and Moto3 categories. Renowned names such as Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team), Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney), Brad Binder, Jack Miller (Redbull), and Jorge Martin (Prima) are all set to make their mark on Indian soil.
