What Just Happened?

Former MotoGP rider Karel Abraham and his motorsport advisory company AVW Global have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s State Transformation Commission to facilitate hosting premier international motorcycle racing, including MotoGP and the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC), at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC).

With racing action targeted as early as July–August 2026, the move is expected to boost tourism, infrastructure growth, and India’s presence on the global racing calendar — while strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s ambitions of becoming the country’s Motorsport Capital. Republic World
