Mollywood Times Release Date Shifted: Naslen’s Boldest Film Yet Arrives June 5, 2026!

If you’ve been keeping tabs on upcoming Malayalam releases, here’s a date change you need to know. Mollywood Times, the much-anticipated satire featuring Naslen in the lead, has officially moved from its earlier May 14, 2026 slot to June 5, 2026. And honestly? The wait only makes us more curious.

Mollywood Times — Overview

What Is Mollywood Times About?

Mollywood Times follows Vineeth Madhavan, a teenager from Kuttikkanam with a burning dream — he wants to become a film director. But this isn’t your typical coming-of-age story. The film is being described as a satirical “hate letter” to cinema, pulling no punches on the absurdities, hypocrisies, and drama that exist behind the glamorous curtain of the Malayalam film industry.

It’s a bold, self-aware concept — one that only a filmmaker like Abhinav Sunder Nayak could pull off. His debut, Mukundan Unni Associates, proved he has a sharp eye for dark, witty storytelling, and Mollywood Times looks set to push that sensibility even further.

Satire in cinema has a long and celebrated history globally, and it’s exciting to see Malayalam cinema embrace the form with such unapologetic energy.

The Cast & Crew Behind the Film

Beyond Naslen, the film features a strong supporting ensemble. Sangeeth Prathap, Sharaf U Dheen, and Alexander Prasanth are among those rounding out the key roles. The music is in the hands of the ever-reliable Jakes Bejoy, whose first single Apna Friday Aayega has already generated buzz online.

On the technical side, Viswajith Odukkathil handles cinematography while Abhinav Sunder Nayak and Nidhin Raj Arol co-edit the film — giving the director considerable creative control over the final cut.

Why Naslen Is the Perfect Choice for This Film

Naslen has quietly built one of the most exciting career trajectories in contemporary Malayalam cinema. From his breakout in Premalu to his recent appearance in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, he brings a natural, relatable energy to every role. Playing a wide-eyed, cinema-obsessed teenager who writes a “hate letter” to the very industry he loves? That’s a role tailor-made for his range.

He’s also got a packed slate ahead — including Tiki Taka, Mattancherry Mafia alongside Mammootty, and his Tamil debut in Suriya47 directed by Jithu Madhavan (of Aavesham fame). Safe to say, Naslen is having quite a moment.

The June 5 Box Office Battle

June 5 is shaping up to be an intriguing date at the box office. Varun Dhawan’s Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has also locked in the same date after Yash’s Toxic postponed its release. A quirky Malayalam satire and a Bollywood romantic entertainer sharing a weekend makes for a fascinating mix — and Mollywood Times could carve out a very loyal audience of its own.
