Moises Caicedo has opened up on a potential transfer to Chelsea, calling them a big and historic team and admitting that he won’t be able to say no to them. The midfielder has already agreed personal terms with the West London club over a potential move. However, the two clubs are quite far apart in their valuation of the Ecuadorian as things stand.
Negotiations are going on for Caicedo, as Brighton have raised their asking price to around £100 million while Chelsea want to pay no more than £80 million for the player.
Moises Caicedo speaks on potential transfer to Chelsea
‘It’s a big team, that’s true,’ Caicedo told La Cancha Con Majo.
‘A very historic team and I can’t say no because it is a very big, historic, beautiful team. The city as well is beautiful.’
This past season, Moises Caicedo was one of the standout performers for the Seagulls as they achieved a historic Europa League finish. The contribution of the 21-year-old has been immense, causing big clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United to also monitor him alongside Chelsea.
In January, there was a strong chance that he could have joined Arsenal. But, the player remained with Brighton and was offered an assurance that he would be sold in the summer. Now, Chelsea have emerged as the frontrunners in the race for the player. But, an agreement with Brighton is essential for the move to go through.
