Mohun Bagan vs East Bengal Kolkata derby preview: Durand Cup 2023 where to watch, time and predictions

Mohun Bagan vs East Bengal preview: The first Kolkata derby of the new season is finally here, with Mohun Bagan SuperGiants set to take on their bitter rivals East Bengal in the final matchday of the 2023 Durand Cup.

The Mariners have been in top form, after thrashing Bangladesh army 5-0 and defeating Punjab FC 2-0. They look set to finish at the top of the table, having accumulated six points so far. East Bengal, on the other hand, blew a 2-0 lead in their game against Bangladesh Army and drew 2-2.

The game will be played at 4:45 PM IST on 12th August, Saturday at the Vivekananda Yuvabharati Krirangan. The game will be available to watch on Ten 2 and the Sony Liv app.

The ISL winners are the favourites heading into the game, having recruited Sahal Samad and Anirudh Thapa into their line-up.

East Bengal have also recruited diligently and have added a lot of talent to their squad. But, the players are yet to start functioning as a cohesive unit, having a new head coach as well.

The Torch Bearers don’t have the best chances of qualifying for the next round, after drawing their first game. If they manage to get a draw against Mohun Bagan SG and are able to win their game against Punjab FC, they will have a strong chance of making it through.

East Bengal defended resolutely throughout their previous game, but collapsed late in the game, conceding two late goals. They will have to keep their composure this time around to prevent the same story repeating from last year.

But, Mohun Bagan are the favourites heading into the game, to extend their unbeaten record in the Kolkata derby.
