Mohanlal’s Christmas Gift to Malayalam Cinema — Athimanoharam Locks December 24 Release With a Heartwarming New Poster

Just when you thought Lalettan’s 2026 couldn’t get any more exciting, the legend drops a Christmas surprise. Athimanoharam is officially coming to theatres on December 24, 2026 — and the new poster with Meera Jasmine has fans talking.

Athimanoharam : Overview

What’s the Film About?

Athimanoharam features Mohanlal as a police officer, with a screenplay penned by Ratheesh Ravi. The emotional hook comes straight from Mohanlal’s own caption on the new poster — “His world begins and ends with the people he calls family.” That single line tells you everything: this is a deeply personal story of a man torn between duty and the ones he loves.

The film also marks Meera Jasmine’s return as a leading lady opposite Mohanlal after several years — she had previously made a special appearance alongside him in Hridayapoorvam. Their reunion on screen is itself reason enough to be excited.

From L365 to Athimanoharam — The Journey

The project was initially announced as L365, with Thallumaala actor Austin Das attached as the director. However, following creative changes, Tharun Moorthy — fresh off the success of Thudarum — took over, and the film subsequently evolved into something distinct from its original version.

That kind of creative overhaul usually signals something better is coming, and with Tharun Moorthy’s recent track record, expectations are sky-high.

Mohanlal’s Loaded 2026 — What Else Is in the Pipeline?

Malayalam cinema is having a phenomenal year, and Mohanlal is at the centre of it. He was last seen in Drishyam 3, currently streaming on Prime Video. Looking ahead, he has announced projects including L367 and a film with Priyadarshan marking the director’s 100th venture, plus a project with Joji director Dileesh Pothan. He is also expected to appear in cameos in Jailer 2 and Khalifa: Part 1, as well as his daughter Vismaya Mohanlal’s debut film Thudakkam.
