Mohammed Shami Wife Moves SC for Justice: Cricket Star Accused of Extramarital Relations

Mohammed Shami Wife Moves SC for Justice: Indian cricket and Gujarat Titans fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Shami’s estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, has filed a special petition with the Supreme Court alleging that a criminal case against the Indian cricket team pacer has been erroneously stayed for the past four years without any just circumstances. Jahan has made fresh accusations that Shami is still engaging in extra-marital affairs, even while on overseas tours with the Indian Cricket Team.

Here are the key points: Mohammed Shami Wife Moves SC for Justice

• Jahan has accused Shami of having extramarital affairs and demanded justice.
• Shami has denied all the allegations made by Jahan so far, but the latter has continued to file a case against the pacer hoping for some justice.
• In 2018, Shami and his elder brother were questioned by Kolkata Police Women’s Grievance Cell, and an arrest warrant was also issued against Shami by Alipore Court. However, there was no action taken as the warrant stayed.
• Jahan’s recent plea in SC alleges that the Kolkata Court stayed action against Shami despite the pacer “did not even pay for the stay of criminal trial, and his sole grievance was only against the issuance of arrest warrants.”
• According to the petition, “Mr. Shami used to use his second mobile phone, an HTC device with the number +447864905556, for managing all his affairs related to prostitutes, and the said phone was seized by the Lal Bazaar Police, Kolkata, in connection with the present crime. However, as per the allegations in the petition, Mr. Shami still continues to be involved in sexual activities with prostitutes.”
• Earlier this year, the Kolkata court demanded that Shami pay a monthly alimony of Rs 50,000 to Jahan. However, Jahan was dissatisfied with the alimony amount and demanded 10 lakhs per month from the court. The court rejected that request from Jahan as they felt she was capable enough to manage herself and her daughter with her modeling job.
• Hasin Jahan has moved the Supreme Court against the Calcutta High Court order dated March 28, 2023, whereby her prayer for quashing the order of Session Court was dismissed.
• She said that the impugned Order is manifestly erroneous in law, which is in blatant violation of her right to a speedy trial.
• Notably, from the last four years, the trial has not progressed and has remained stayed, she said.
• The cricketer is shining on the field in the Indian Premier League (IPL) playing for Gujarat Titans. He is the purple cap holder with 17 wickets in nine matches after returning with magical figures of 4/11 in his four overs. However, his personal life is not in great shape at the moment.

It is a difficult time for Mohammed Shami, both personally and professionally. While he continues to perform on the field, his personal life remains in turmoil due to the allegations made by his estranged wife. It remains to be seen what the Supreme Court will decide in this case, and we can only hope for a just and fair resolution.
