Mobius Is Back at the TVA: Did Avengers: Doomsday Just Rewrite His Loki Ending?

Remember Mobius sitting on a quiet Ohio street, saying he would “let time pass”? That bittersweet goodbye may not have lasted. A new 90-second scene has Owen Wilson’s agent clocking in at the TVA again, and fans are asking why.

Avengers: Doomsday: The Scene

What Happens in the Scene?

The scene appears to take place after Loki becomes the God of Stories. The TVA now shows its timelines as a giant tree, and a photo of Loki hangs on the wall under the title “Employee of All Time.” It is a sweet touch, since his old coworkers clearly haven’t forgotten him.

Mobius strolls into the control room for what looks like an ordinary shift. Then Casey flags two Earths from different universes heading for a collision, and they begin firing missiles at each other. One is Earth-10005, the Fox X-Men universe. The other, Earth-1127, remains a mystery. O.B. realises it is bigger than two worlds: thousands of universes are at risk.

Why It Feels Like a Retcon?

At the end of Loki Season 2, Loki took his seat at the End of Time to hold the multiverse together. Mobius chose to walk away from the TVA, telling Hunter B-15 he wanted to see what they had been protecting all along. She left the door open for him to return.

He then visited his Variant, Don, a jet ski salesman in Ohio raising two sons, and watched from a distance. He told Sylvie he’d wait there “a little bit” and let time pass. That felt like a real send-off, a man choosing life beyond the job.

Yet in the new scene he is back at his old post like nothing happened. And it doesn’t look like the collapsing multiverse dragged him back, since he’s already there at the start of the shift. To be fair, he only said “a little bit,” and time works differently at an agency outside of time. Doomsday may explain it, or leave fans to fill in the gap.

What It Means for Avengers: Doomsday?

Mobius’s return was reported earlier this year, but this is the first look at how the TVA fits in. The agency is also reportedly getting a new logo. After Loki Season 2, it stopped pruning timelines and became more of a watchdog, but with Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) coming, those rules may no longer apply.

Loki is expected to be central, holding reality together as the God of Stories. That also makes him a prime target. There is speculation that the TVA could come under attack, though that is only a rumour at this point. For background on the series, see the Loki TV series page on Wikipedia.

Conclusion

Whether this is a retcon or simply “a little bit” taking longer than expected, Mobius’s return raises the stakes for Doomsday.
