Tom Cruise performing the biggest stunt in cinema history

On Monday, Paramount and Skydance shared behind-the-screen footage of the most dangerous stunt that Tom Cruise has attempted for the first time in the history of cinema. It is going to become the highlight of the movie’s first trailer.

In the footage of the movie Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One, Tom Cruise and the film’s director, McQuarrie, demonstrated the stunt where the actor drives a motorbike on a ramp and off a cliff, leading into a base jump. In order to train for this complex sequence, Cruise did over 13,000 attempts. He later said, “I have to get so good at this that there’s just no way I can miss my marks.”

It is not only the dedication of Tom Cruise that was the highlight of the footage. In order to hype the thrill of the stunt sequence, the camera had to capture Cruise from as close as possible.
