Minecraft’s upcoming Bedrock Edition 1.21.110, dubbed “The Copper Age,” is set to revolutionize how players interact with one of the game’s most underutilized materials. This game drop promises to transform copper from a decorative afterthought into a cornerstone of gameplay mechanics.

What Makes Minecraft The Copper Age Special?

The update adds copper armor and tools, copper nuggets, various copper decorations, copper golems, and shelves – marking the most significant expansion of copper functionality since the material’s original introduction. This isn’t just another minor update; it’s a complete reimagining of copper’s role in Minecraft.

Game-Changing Copper Features

Copper Golem: Your New Best Friend

The star of this update is undoubtedly the Copper Golem. When fully oxidized, it turns into a Copper Golem Statue that can be reverted back using an axe, and its pose can be changed by interacting with it. This adds both functional and aesthetic value to your builds.

Enhanced Building Options

Copper chests can be crafted with a chest surrounded by 8 copper ingots and act as their wooden counterparts, while copper decorative blocks now allow players to decorate their buildings with beautiful elements that may have different colors due to oxidation.

Improved Crafting Mechanics

One notable quality-of-life improvement: copper torches’ crafting recipe now produces 4 instead of 1, making them more viable for large-scale lighting projects.

Technical Improvements for Builders

The update also brings crucial technical enhancements. The new @n target selector returns the single closest entity, improving command block functionality for advanced builders and map makers.

For creative builders, “The Void” flat world preset has been added, providing a perfect canvas for ambitious projects without terrain interference.

Release Timeline and Availability

While no set release date has been announced, the update is set to release at some point within 2025. Preview versions are already available for testing, allowing dedicated players to experience these features early.

Why This Update Matters

The Copper Age represents Minecraft’s commitment to expanding existing mechanics rather than just adding new ones. By giving copper genuine utility beyond decoration, Mojang addresses long-standing player feedback about material balance.

This update bridges the gap between stone and iron tools, providing a natural progression that makes early-game exploration more rewarding. The aesthetic possibilities with oxidized copper variants also open new creative avenues for builders.
