Twenty years. A blonde wig. A legendary rotating closet. And one girl who changed everything. Miley Cyrus officially announced on February 17, 2026 that she’s going back to where it all began — and the internet has not been the same since. The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special is streaming on Disney+ on March 24, 2026 — the exact date the original show premiered in 2006. The “Hannahversary” is real, it’s official, and it’s going to wreck you in the best possible way.

What Will the Special Include?
This isn’t a reboot. Disney and Miley have been crystal clear about that — and honestly? It might be better.
The special features an intimate, in-depth interview between Miley Cyrus and Alex Cooper filmed in front of a live studio audience. Viewers will get never-before-seen archival footage, iconic sets rebuilt from scratch (yes, including that legendary closet), and — crucially — Disney teased “familiar notes finding their way back into the spotlight.” Translation: there may be live performances of Hannah’s biggest hits.
Miley herself called it her “way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.” Cooper’s involvement makes sense — this will be her second sit-down with Cyrus, and their chemistry is already established.
Disney+ President Ayo Davis described the project as a “love letter to the fans” — not a cash-grab reboot, but a genuine tribute to a show that defined a generation.

Why Hannah Montana Still Matters in 2026
According to Wikipedia’s Hannah Montana page, the series earned four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Children’s Program and spawned 14 platinum music releases, two films, and a sold-out Best of Both Worlds Tour that grossed over $70 million. The show ran from 2006–2011 and starred Cyrus alongside Billy Ray Cyrus, Emily Osment, Jason Earles, and Mitchel Musso.
Cyrus starred in 100 episodes, a feature film, and released five studio albums during the show’s run. It didn’t just launch a career — it launched a cultural movement that apparently still has millions of people’s Spotify Wrapped lists looking suspicious decades later.
