Arsenal are slowly but steadily proceeding with a deal for Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad. The midfielder is keen on joining the Gunners this summer, and personal terms are not a problem between the player and his potential new club.
A contract has been agreed with the player, and now, an agreement between the two clubs is needed for the transfer to go through. The rumoured transfer fee is expected to be over €25 million.

Arsenal already have a stacked midfield with the likes of Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Jorginho and more available to play. The addition of Mikel Merino would strengthen their team even further and make them even more of a threat to Manchester City heading into the new season.
Merino has been with Sociedad since 2018, but interestingly played for Newcastle United in the 2017-18 season while on loan from Dortmund. As a result, he already has a taste of what it is like to play in the Premier League.
After six years with the Spanish side and establishing himself as a top midfielder, it’ll be interesting to see how he performs if Arsenal can complete the deal in the coming days.
