Microsoft Surface Laptop Go – the most affordable Surface laptop is here

Microsoft has introduced its new budget Surface Laptop Go yesterday. The new notebook is designed to be a more affordable alternative for Microsofts premium surface devices. Priced at just $549, the laptop is clearly aimed at potential Chromebook buyers.

But being much affordable comes with its downsides. The device compromises on some specs to get to a lower price point. The device comes with a 12.4-inch display and runs on 1536 x 1024 resolution. The display sports a 3:2 aspect ratio.

Surface Laptop Go comes powered with Intel’s 10th Generation Core i5 1035G1 processors. Can be upgraded up to 16GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. The base variant of the laptop comes with only 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage.

The device is reported to have up to 13 hours of battery life on a single charge. The fast charging feature of the device quickly charges the battery up to 80% in just one hour.

Connectivity include:

  • USB Type-A port
  • USB Type-C port
  • 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
  • Wi-Fi 6
  • Bluetooth 5.0

Other features of the device include a 720p webcam, Studio Mics, Omnisonic speakers with Dolby Audio Tuning.

The Surface Laptop Go also comes with a fingerprint scanner built into the power button for Windows Hello biometric authentication. It will also support one-touch sign-in for other Microsoft services like OneDrive Personal Vault.
