The surface Duo has already been launched by Microsoft back in September this year. But a recent report has come out that Microsoft is looking to re-release this device probably in the second quarter of the upcoming year. Moreover, the company has also stated that it will distribute the Surface Duo in Canada, Japan, and the UK as well.
So, after this re-release news from Microsoft, it is almost confirmed that the company is not looking for a launch of the successor of the Surface Duo, for say a Surface Duo 2. But one thing has to be looked out by the users. The Surface Duo is powered by an outdated chipset, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. The company has not shared anything whether they will use the same chipset or something else. If it will still be powered by the SD 855 chipset, the pricing of the device will also be in the checklist.
The Microsoft Surface Duo features an 8.1″ AMOLED folding display with (1800×2700) pixels of screen resolution for 401 PPI density. Both sides of the phone are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The folded position display features a 5.6″ AMOLED display with (1350×1800) pixels of screen resolution and a 4:3 screen ratio.
Regarding the pricing, there is also a bit of confusion. In the US, the buyer can currently get the device at a price tag of US$1,199.99. But, regarding the re-release, Microsoft has not confirmed anything in terms of the price range of the Surface Duo outside the US. But we can expect that the price will be going slightly lower than before.
