Friday night was pure entertainment thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s stunning knock of 103 off 49. After the visiting captain, Hardik Pandya, sent them to bat first, winning the toss, the hosts seemed to take it easy. The openers did well, but today’s show belonged to Sky. The MI batters put up a total of 218 on the board.
Stunning knock from Surya: defending champs fall short by 27 runs
Surya didn’t have the ideal start to this season, and many had started doubting his form in this edition. However, with every inning, he has proved himself wrong, and today’s knock was icing on the cake.
A stellar knock of unbeaten 103 in just 49 deliveries, which included six wickets and eleven boundaries. Vishnu Vinod was great, too, with the bat as he hit a 20-ball 39.
Despite these big hits, Rashid Khan was again wonderful with the ball. Conceding just thirty runs in the four overs, he picked up four wickets. Currently, he’s the highest wicket-taker in the tournament.
A struggling chase by GT against MI
Following Sky’s incredible knock, fans might have started expecting power hitting from GT too. However, they didn’t have a great start, with most of the batsmen failing their part.
After Millar departed for a 26-ball 41, GT’s hopes to win the game had turned to ashes.
Then came to the crease Rashid Khan and played the knock of his life. Striking ten amazing sixes and three boundaries, he was unbeaten for 79 off 32.
However, in the end, it was the MI players who kept their nerves and bagged the important two points. The coming weeks of IPL will be super-crazy!
