Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, has unveiled a new VR subscription service for the Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 3 (when released) that allows customers to claim two games at a discounted price every month. The four games that can be claimed in July and August have already been confirmed by the corporation. Sony’s PS Plus program, which operates fundamentally identically to the Essential Tier, may be the best point of comparison.
As long as they have access to the Essential Tier, PS Plus customers gain access to online play in addition to three titles each month. Notably, Meta Quest+ just provides customers with access to two games; there don’t appear to be any more enticing features, at least for its launch capability. It remains to be seen how the subscription service expands, but customers will receive these two games every month for $7.99 per month or $59.99 annually. They can access them as long as their subscription is ongoing; additionally, those who sign up between now and July 31 will receive the first month for free.
Pistol Whip and Pixel Ripped 1995 will be available to Meta Quest+ subscribers in July 2023.
Pixel Whip is an action-rhythm FPS in which players can compete on leaderboards, create rhythms with bullets, and fight through numerous fever dream situations. Pixel Ripped 1995, on the other hand, is billed as a VR game within a game in which players must accomplish gameplay challenges and throwbacks to classics from the 16 and 32-bit eras.
Meta Quest+ customers will get access to Walkabout Mini Golf and MOTHERGUNSHIP: FORGE in August 2023. The first game has it all in the title, as it is a VR mini-golf game, yet its peace is interrupted by MOTHERGUNSHIP: FORGE’s chaos. The latter is a VR FPS roguelike title in which players must manufacture formidable armaments such as a rocket-firing shotgun to battle their way to freedom over and over again.
