Today the Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has held the launch conference in China and unbox its so many devices including a smartwatch. The most attractive phase of the launch event is a smartwatch launch, the company has introduced its first new smartwatch with the name of the Meizu Watch.
Back in 2016, Meizu launched the Meizu MIX hybrid which featured an analog dial with some smart features. Today, the company announced the Meizu Watch as its full-fledged smartwatch with e-SIM functionality. In addition, the smartwatch delivers 36 hours of battery life on a full charge and it features the Snapdragon 4100 Wear, which is the Qualcomm chip for smartwatches.
Now we are getting a much more serious attempt at a smartwatch from the company which is known for a range of smart-looking smartphones. Meizu began in 2003 as a manufacturer of MP3 and MP4 players. Five years later, it shifted its focus to smartphones. It is now the 11th largest smartphone manufacturer in the world although most of these sales are in its home country.
Meizu Watch Specifications and features
As per the specification concern, the Meizu Watch is launched with a 1.78-inch AMOLED display which is protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass with the fluoro-rubber strap, it weighs 69 grams. It has a 6-series aluminum alloy construction with a ceramic base and it measures 46 x 38.4mm and has a thickness of 12.97mm. Also, it has a button and touches display option for operating its various functions.
According to the watch display, it has a 368 x 448 pixels resolution, 326ppi pixel density, and 500 nits brightness. The smartwatch featured by a Flyme OS which allows users to customize the watch face with a wide range of dial photos. It tags long the Aicy smart assistant.
The smartwatch equipped with a Snapdragon Wear 4100 chip and it has 1 GB of RAM while the Meizu Watch supported 8GB of storage. In terms of connectivity, it supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and NFC for contactless payments through Meizu Pay.
The Meizu Watch also features voice calling through e-SIM LTE connectivity. The Meizu Watch comes with lots of indoor and outdoor tracking mode options including running, walking, elliptical trainer, cycling, table tennis, badminton, bowling, rowing machine, climbing, skipping rope, and free training. Also, it has lots of health tracking features such as blood oxygen monitoring, heart rate tracking, pressure monitoring, sleeping tracking, breathing training, and sedentary reminder.
Battery life is nothing to write home about, but that was probably to be expected considering the specs. The device can run up to 36 hours between charges. The good news is that just 15 minutes on the charger is enough to keep the 420mAh battery going for 9 hours. 45 minutes is how long it takes to go from zero to full. The charging base is detachable so you can charge your mobile phone and watch with just a USB-C cable.
Meizu Watch Price and availability
Meizu is slowly expanding its portfolio by creating an ecosystem of smart home and wearable gear that works seamlessly together. The Meizu Watch is the latest addition to this list.
The Meizu Watch can be picked up in China from tomorrow in a choice between Black and Azure colors. Each will set you back 1,499 Yuan (around INR 17,100). No word yet on international availability.
