If you’re diving into Pokémon TCG Pocket and aiming to dominate the Ranked Matches or Solo Battles, one powerful deck archetype you must consider is the Mega Blastoise ex Deck. This deck combines heavy water-type attacks with smart energy acceleration and bench control to keep opponents on their toes. Based on the Crimson Blaze expansion and community strategy guides, this is one of the most beloved and viable water-type decks in the current meta.

Let’s walk through how this deck works, key cards, strategy tips, and how to optimize your experience with it.

🚀 What Makes the Mega Blastoise ex Deck So Good?

Mega Blastoise ex stands out in Pokémon TCG Pocket for its ability to deal consistent damage while providing bench pressure. It has a powerful primary attack and solid synergy with energy acceleration cards that help you get set up faster than your opponent.

Here’s a quick overview of the card’s core strengths and weaknesses:

This balance of bulk, board impact, and damage spread helps make Blastoise ex a strong contender in the water-type deck tier.

🧠 Deck Composition & Core Cards

To make the best Mega Blastoise ex Deck, you’ll want cards that help you draw faster, set up energy quickly, and support your water attackers. While exact lists vary depending on your style and meta, here’s a proven build that many players have found success with:

🃏 Pokémon (10 Cards)

• Mega Blastoise ex ×2 – Your main heavy hitter.
• Manaphy ×2 – Excellent for Energy acceleration.

🧰 Trainer Cards (8–10 Cards)

• Misty ×2 – Bench streamlining and water energy support.
• Cyrus ×1 / Rare Candy ×2 – Rapid evolution and draw support.
• Copycat ×1 / Lillie ×2 / Poke Ball ×2 / Professor’s Research ×2 – Consistent drawing and search tools.

🔋 Energy (5–8 Cards)

• Water Energy ×5 – Primary energy for your Blastoise attacks.

💡 Adjust card counts based on matchups and your ranked path — more draw tools help consistency, while additional energy acceleration helps setup speed.

🧠 Strategy Tips for Mastering the Deck

⚡ Get Energy Early

It’s crucial to attach Water Energy fast, because Mega Blastoise’s key attack Triple Bombardment becomes devastating only after three extra Energy are attached. Cards like Manaphy and Misty help accelerate water energy across your board.

📈 Use Bench Pressure

Once set up, aim to make Mega Blastoise ex pulse damage across Bench Pokémon. This wears opponents down not just front and center — your damage can spread organically. Pokémon GO Hub

🧢 Balance Setup with Defense

Mega Pokémon ex cards give up 3 Prize cards if knocked out, so don’t overextend. Sometimes retreating into another Pokémon or using trainer cards for defense is smarter than unwisely committing energy.

🥇 Where Mega Blastoise ex Stands in the Meta

According to competitive Tier lists, Mega Blastoise ex is frequently listed as an S-tier deck choice in the Crimson Blaze meta, especially due to its water synergy and damage spread potential.

This places it among the strongest watery decks right now, making it a top pick for Ranked Battles and Solo Missions.
