With compatibility for both sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G networks, MediaTek introduced the T800 chipset for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Machine-to-Machine (M2M), and always-connected PCs on Friday.
According to the Taiwanese chip manufacturer, the T800 chipset allows download rates of up to 7.9Gbps and upload speeds of up to 4.2Gbps.
Additionally, it supports 4CC-CA, dual 5G SIM, standalone (SA), and non-standalone (NSA) 5G networks.
“Consumers today want the ability to access 5G speeds from anywhere. MediaTek’s newest 5G chipset solution allows end users to enjoy high-speed, low-latency 5G wherever they are – offering true computing freedom,” said JC Hsu, Corporate Vice President at MediaTek.
The chipset solution includes FR1 Transceivers, an Envelope Tracking (ET) chip, MLNA, a GNSS receiver, and related PMICs in addition to a thin modem with a fully integrated 3GPP Release-16 5G cellular modem. According to a statement from the company, the thin modem is constructed using a 4nm process node and incorporates PCIe + USB host interfaces in addition to other input/output options.
