MediaTek Rebrands Dimensity 9350 as Dimensity 9400e, Aims to Rival Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 with Performance Upgrades
As per a leak from Digital Chat Station, the expected Dimensity 9350, MediaTek’s next sub-flagship chipset, is now touted to be known as the Dimensity 9400e instead. The shift in naming could be to align it with MediaTek’s current flag lineup and away from the former 9300-series naming. Despite the new family name, the Dimensity 9400e is rumored to be closely related to the Dimensity 9300 series. The tipster describes it as a “Dimensity 9300++”, implying significant upgrades over its predecessor.
Note that this is different from the Dimensity 9300+, which is an enhanced 9300, rather than a new chipset. This means the 9400e should offer better performance than the 9300+, likely by way of increased clock + overclock speeds. It is expected to retain the Dimensity 9300 core configuration, with one Cortex-X4 prime core, three more Cortex-X4, and four performance Cortex-A720 cores. The biggest difference could be its higher clock speeds, giving it a performance advantage.
Earlier leaks have also suggested that OnePlus is developing a phone to run on this chip. Allegedly called the Ace 5V, this device is expected to feature a 7,000mAh-class battery, a flat 1.5K display, and the Dimensity 9350, which is now presumed to be the Dimensity 9400e. While an official launch date remains unconfirmed, with Qualcomm’s 8s Gen 4 on the horizon, MediaTek appears ready to intensify competition in the sub-flagship chipset market.
