The All New MediaTek Dimensity 9300

MediaTek is taking an unconventional approach with its latest flagship processor, omitting efficiency cores from the chipset. Instead, the Dimensity 9300 is expected to feature eight performance-oriented cores, along with a more potent GPU than the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the leaked specs for the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 reveal an arrangement of eight high-performance cores in a 1+3+4 core configuration. This includes 1x ARM Cortex X4 Prime core, 3x ARM Cortex X4 cores, and 4x ARM Cortex-A720 cores, making it the first processor in the Android market to forgo efficiency cores. The clock speed is rumored to be 3.25GHz.

Furthermore, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 is said to sport the Immortalis G720 MC12 GPU, with its graphics performance expected to surpass that of the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, although final results may vary upon official launch.

Manufactured on TSMC’s 4nm architecture (N4P node process), the Dimensity 9300 is anticipated to deliver impressive efficiency, despite Qualcomm shifting to the 3nm architecture for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

While the official launch date for the Dimensity 9300 remains unconfirmed, it is expected to precede Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit scheduled for October 24. The Vivo X100 is rumored to be the first device to feature the Dimensity 9300, poised to provide strong competition to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-based smartphones.

Xiaomi and OPPO are also considering adopting the Dimensity 9300 in their smartphones, although no official announcements have been made. OnePlus, which has previously used MediaTek chipsets in its OnePlus Nord series, might also be interested in utilizing the Dimensity 9300 due to its attractive value proposition. Additionally, MediaTek has announced plans to release its first set of 3nm processors in the second half of 2024, signaling its readiness for advancements in processor technology.
