The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 is anticipated to be announced next week, thus it was only a matter of time before the chipset was identified in Geekbench 6’s single-core and multi-core results. While the results reveal that the future silicon outperforms its predecessors, even with a more powerful CPU cluster, it falls short of the A17 Pro.

The SoC achieves single-core and multi-core scores of 2,139 and 7,110 in Geekbench 6. Keep in mind that the Dimensity 9300 lacks power-efficient Cortex-A520 cores this year, so a mix of Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 should aid with multi-core performance, but that is not the case here.
Even with this remarkable configuration, the Dimensity 9300 falls short of the A17 Pro, with the latter attaining a 36.3 percent lead in the single-core test and a meager 1.7 percent lead in multi-core. While both SoCs are similar in the multi-core area, Apple’s A-series has typically done substantially better in the single-core category, and even a higher-clocked Cortex-X4 was unable to compete with the A17 Pro on this occasion.
Of course, commercial units of the Dimensity 9300 may outperform when found in a wave of 2024 Android flagships. Because MediaTek’s current chipset mostly employs Cortex-X4 cores, it is probable that the chip’s power draw is higher this time, leading the SoC’s temperature to rise, resulting in thermal throttling and a performance decrease.
