Redmi can soon launch a Dimensity 2000 based smartphone

MediaTek introduced its Dimensity 1200 6nm SoC earlier this year and the Dimensity 2000 5nm SoC was rumoured for Q1, but it didn’t happen. MediaTek is already at work on its new flagship Dimensity 2000 processor. Now there is information about when the first smartphones based on it will be released.

The information comes from a Weibo-based tipster via GizChina. The same tipster had previously claimed that the 4nm process-based Dimensity 2000 chipset will be made by TSMC. Now, he further added that the chip-making giant has distributed some samples of these chips from MediaTek to its partners for internal testing purposes.

Apart from this, we knew that Dimensity 2000 would adopt the new ARM V9 architecture and the new Cortex-X2 core. Therefore, the performance of this SoC is no different from that of the Qualcomm chip. Compared to the Cortex X1 core used in the Snapdragon 888, the performance of the X2 core is also improved by at least 17%. Power consumption is expected to be reduced by 10%, which means an overall improvement in energy efficiency. In addition, improving the performance of the A710 and A510 cores is also very important.

Recall that MediaTek Dimensity 2000 will be built based on 4-nanometer TSMC/Samsung processor and will use ARM V9 architecture. In addition, SoC is attributed a significant performance gain, as well as improved energy efficiency.

Talking about the pricing, the MediaTek Dimensity 2000 chipsets are likely to cost relatively more than its predecessors. As a result, the upcoming smartphones powered by the new, powerful chips could be priced around 3000 yuan or nearly Rs 34,000. This is quite higher and it is justified as the new chip is believed to be priced at a premium.

More details will be known when the new MediaTek chipsets are unveiled or there is some clarity in the form of an official confirmation from the company or brands that will use these Dimensity 2000 chipsets.
