Max Verstappen made it two World Championships in a row, with his title win in the 2022 season of Formula 1. And as it turns out, he has been leading the pack in terms of earnings as well.
The Dutchman reportedly earned £45 million for the season gone by, which is far ahead of the next best-paid driver. Lewis Hamilton didn’t have the best season, but still earned £29 million, making him the second best-paid of all in the division.
Max Verstappen emerges as the highest earner in F1 2022
F1 contracts include bonuses for podium finishes, races won and for winning the title, of course. And Max Verstappen’s unparalleled performance in 2022 has seen him outclass all other drivers in the division.
His title rival during the early part of the season, Charles Levlerc, earned £20 million for the most recent season. The Ferrari driver is followed by Lando Norris, earning £16.5 million while Leclerc’s Ferrari teammate, Carlos Sainz, took home £10 million.
Max Verstappen is not only furthering himself in terms of performance-based salary, but also endorsement deals. He recently partnered up with Heineken for the promotion of responsible driving.
Testing has now begun for Formula 1’s 2023 season, with the biggest ever calendar all set at 23 races.
