Matheus Nunes on his way to Wolves for club record fee worth €50m

Matheus Nunes is set to join Wolves on a permanent deal. The transfer has been given the here we go signal by Fabrizio Romano, which means it is only a matter of time before the deal is made official by the clubs. 

A full agreement is in place between Sporting Lisbon and Wolves for a €45 million fee up-front, plus €5 million in add-ons which would take the total amount to €50 million. Once the deal is done, Nunes will be the club record signing for the Midlands club, breaking the previous record held by Fabio Silva, who joined from Porto in 2020.

The player signed a contract extension with Sporting in 2021, until 2026. But only a year later, he is on his way to the Premier League, where he will be working with Bruno Lage. 

Wolves have signed yet another Portuguese player, adding to the likes of Ruben Neves, Joao Mourinho, Fabio Silva, Daniel Podence, Jose Sa, and Pedro Neto to name a few. A medical assessment has been scheduled for the player to complete his transfer in the next few days. 

Matheus Nunes had attracted interest from the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool as well. But ultimately, Wolves have gone ahead and finalised the transfer with Sporting.
