Marvel’s Wolverine Set for Possible Reveal Soon, Claims Insider

More than three years since Insomniac Games announced Marvel‘s Wolverine, a PlayStation 5 game centered around James ‘Logan’ Howlett of the X-Men. During that time, the studio claimed it was still in its initial stages but since then fans have become more and more anxious waiting for information on GTA VI.

According to leaker Kurakasis, this may be about ready to change soon as Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac will apparently finally show itself. There is no confirmation on where the reveal will take place either at The Game Awards or another event but it will likely happen before 2021 ends, supporting a possible release sometime in 2025.

You might recall that Insomniac Games experienced a significant hack in December 2023, resulting in a substantial leak of data related to various projects, including Wolverine. It remains uncertain if this incident caused any delays for the game. Interestingly, during the investigation of the leaked data, a reference was discovered that seemed to relate to cooperative multiplayer, which would be an unusual feature. Maybe Logan being a lone wolf can play into some interesting story, and have him interacting with other Marvel characters in coop style.

But for now, Wolverine is a single and original story but exists somehow in the same Marvel universe Insomniac has established with its Spider-Man games. Whether other characters like Peter Parker or Miles Morales will show up is unknown. The project is being directed by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian — who both recently co-directed Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

The writing team expands to include Mary Kenney, co-writer of Miles Morales with Ben Arfmann, and Walt Williams & Nick Folkman from Spider-Man 2. Marvel’s Wolverine will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, though Sony’s new strategy for PC suggests that the game could be available on that platform within a couple of years following its console release.
