The Big Films Coming Up
Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31, 2026) is Marvel’s sole summer release and its best shot at a box office rebound. Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon return, joined by Sadie Sink in a mystery role, Jon Bernthal as The Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. No IMAX, but August is wide open — and Spider-Man has never needed much help filling seats.
Avengers: Doomsday (December 18, 2026) is the real blockbuster event. The Russo Brothers are back. Robert Downey Jr. returns as Doctor Doom. Chris Evans is returning as Steve Rogers. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and several original X-Men cast members are confirmed — a March 2025 livestream revealing this generated over 275 million social media views. This is Marvel swinging for the fences after years of rebuilding.
Avengers: Secret Wars (December 17, 2027) follows directly, with Kevin Feige describing it as a soft “reset” for the entire MCU — clearing the path for a cleaner, more focused universe going forward.
TV Shows Worth Getting Excited About
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 arrives March 24, 2026, bringing Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio and a new addition — Krysten Ritter returning as Jessica Jones. Season 3 is already greenlit.
X-Men ’97 Season 2 lands later in 2026, with characters sporting suits inspired by Grant Morrison’s iconic New X-Men run. Season 3 is already in development.
VisionQuest reunites Paul Bettany’s Vision with James Spader’s Ultron in what showrunner Terry Matalas calls “a show about Marvel AIs.” Eight episodes, late 2026.
Long-Term: The Mutant Era Begins
Feige has confirmed the MCU’s next saga will be the “Mutant Era”, with a 10-year plan for the X-Men. The first sacred timeline X-Men film is targeting 2028, directed by Jake Schreier and written by Michael Lesslie — expect a young, fresh cast.
