After several animations, the dream girl, Barbie comes real. Margot Robbie appears as the 90s dream doll Barbie. Ryan Gosling is playing the role of Barbie’s boyfriend. The idea of turning the Mattel staple into a live-action had been discussed for over a decade, it took Greta Gerwig to sign her name onto the project and make it fly off the page.
Margot Robbie is already a popular face for playing the role of Harley Quinn. Now, the actress will appear as a Barbie in her new film. The filming with the external shots in the Florida streets has made a lot of buzz. Now, however, it has been a while since we’re snowed under with Barbie news, so it’s the perfect time to take a peek at the movie’s first trailer and discover what it will all look like on the silver screen.
The very popular Aqua song “Barbie Girl” is not to feature in the movie. At the same time, you can tell there’s something different in the Barbie world, something that Academy Award-nominated director Greta Gerwig has already teased in previous interviews. After all, the live-action movie is coming out more than 60 years after the doll was created.
Warner Bros has dropped the two-minute-long second trailer. The new trailer starts with a ramp walk of onscreen Barbie Margot Robbie. Barbie enters with pink footwear and obediently removes the shoes. The trailer exposes a beautiful pink city where buildings, roads, and people are looking pinkish. Margot Robbie is really looking gorgeous in Barbie look.

One day Barbie enters a green city where she meets with a lady who gives her a pair of pink footwear to go to the real world and know the ultimate truth of the universe.
Now, Barbie set out to explore the truth of the universe in a pink four-wheeler. She is singing in her own rhythm and suddenly she is surprised when her boyfriend wakes up from the back of the car. After getting out of the fantasy world, the two ultimately arrive in the real world. In this real world the first thing that wonders is Barbie as people are looking at them, and give an awkward smile.
As the trailer continues, people slowly come to know that Barbie is coming into the real world. As soon as the higher authority comes to know that Barbie has come into the real world, they find this thing very weird. Now, they are chasing Barbie to catch her and put her in the box. Now, everyone has joined in this mission, and Barbie is running with her full strength. The trailer ends with a comedic moment of Ryan Gosling, and a doctor.
On scoring to Richard Strauss’ ‘Also Sproch Zarathustra’, as the audiences going to recognize from 2001: A Space Odyssey, the trailer concludes on a much more important note. There are some quick clips showing the star-studded cast of the film living their fantastic, plastic lives in a hot-pink Barbie world.
Barbie is written by director Gerwig along with Noah Baumbach, which is another exposing element of the tone and setting of this new movie. Both Gerwig and Baumbach are known for depicting some harsh realities of life – but often with humor at the core, so their take on the world-famous character makes it all the more interesting. Will Ferrell, who plays the CEO of Mattel, suggested in an interview that the movie will be a satire on patriarchy, as well as a critique of social and beauty standards imposed on women.
