Chelsea have been linked with a surprise move for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram in the January window. The forward is out of a contract at the end of the season, which means he will be able to change clubs as a free agent.

However, the Premier League club is looking to add him to their ranks within the ongoing month. It seems almost certain that he won’t be extending with Borussia Monchengladbach beyond this season. And now, it depends on whether the Bundesliga club will cash in on him now or keep him for the next six months.

The 25-year-old was part of the France national team that finished as runners-up in the 2022 World Cup. This season, he has scored 10 goals in the Bundesliga while providing three assists.

With Armando Broja out injured for the rest of the season, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seemingly not in the plans of Graham Potter, the arrival of Marcus Thuram could help them with their finishing woes.

Chelsea’s goalscoring form has been miserable, to say the least, and this has left them with little to show for even when they have played well. Should Marcus Thuram be signed, the main expectation from him will be to get at the end of moves to put the ball in the back of the net.

But first, a move will have to be agreed with Gladbach, as well as the green light from the player himself.
