Marcos Alonso is set to leave Barcelona at the end of the season, when his deal runs out. The Spaniard is on good terms with the board, and will not be staying at the club beyond this season.

Having joined the club last season after leaving Chelsea as a free agent, the defender has seen his playing time severely reduced this season. He was played as a central defender by Xavi, opting to use Alejandro Balde at left-back instead. And after making only four LaLiga appearances this year, he will be moving on in June.

Barcelona rejected a €65m bid for Sergi Roberto last summer

Injury has played a key part in Alonso’s absence this season, with the 33-year-old ruled out with a back injury. The rise of Pau Curbasi has been a factor in his decision to leave, since Xavi wasn’t playing him at left-back in the first place.

Moreover, he could be joined by Sergi Roberto, if the club captain decides to leave at the end of the season, when his contract expires as well. But, his decision to stay or leave depends on who becomes the new coach next season.

Roberto has been a key part of the squad for the last decade, and is fondly remembered for his Remontada goal against PSG. But, he could now be moving on if the club chooses to not renew his deal anymore.
