After the sudden departure of FC Barcelona’s coach Ernesto Valverde after the 2-3 defeat against Atletico Madrid in the Supercopa de España, former coach of Las Palmas and Real Betis, Quique Setién has taken the charge of the Catalans.
Barca players who were previously spoiled by Valverde’s lack of training sessions are toiling hard to satisfy their new coach. Quique Setién is a coach who works with his brain and is known for his smart tactics, even though he has not won big leagues but has led the underdogs like Las Palmas and Real Betis to great results in his managerial career.
FC Barcelona’s first team goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has said that the new manager Quique Setien is trying to change things at Barcelona. Ter Stegen says that the squad are doing their best to implement the new coach’s ideas and is hoping that the team will go on and enjoy a successful campaign.
Ter Stegen who missed the last few games of Barcelona is back after his injury and took a positive role in the team’s last few training sessions and he is ready to get back into action, all depends on the new coach to use him in the Sunday’s match against Granada.
The former Spain international, Quique Setién is committed to a style based on possession and technique, a professed admirer of Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi, and once said he would have cut off his finger to play for Johan Cruyff. Being appointed as the coach on Tuesday, he held double training sessions on the day itself.
Before the home game against Granada on Sunday, the new coach is pushing its players by organizing training sessions every day before the final match and even a tactical training session on the matchday as well. The result of Sunday’s match is eagerly-anticipated under the new tactics of coach Setién at the Camp Nou.
