Manchester United are keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong for a transfer in the summer. According to Sky Deutschland, the two clubs have held positive talks over a transfer.
Leverkusen are open to the idea of letting their star defender go, considering how much attention he is attracting. They have also signed a replacement in the form of Brazilian youngster Arthur, and have prepared themselves for his departure already.
Man Utd transfer news: Jeremie Frimpong a target for Manchester United this summer
Given that Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag wants to have attack-minded full-backs, Jeremie Frimpong is the perfect man for his system. It is the reason why Diogo Dalot has been preferred over Aaron Wan-Bissaka, even though the latter is seemingly unbeatable in 1v1s.
Frimpong has scored eight goals and provided nine assists across all competitions this season. And those numbers are impressive for any attacker, let alone a defender.
As a result, he could be the perfect man to operate on the right flank for Ten Hag alongside Antony. Wan-Bissaka is expected to leave the club, while Dalot is awaiting a new contract from the board owing to his impressive form under the Dutch manager.
However, United aren’t the only ones interested in signing Frimpong this summer. They will have to act fast to persuade the 22-year-old, though they are currently ahead in the race.
