Bernardo Silva looks set to stay at Manchester City this summer. The treble winners have decided to block any offers for the midfielder, which means Barcelona and PSG both have no chance of landing the player in spite of having discussions to sign him.
The player has not yet decided whether he wants to commit to the Mancunian side. But, City are clear and firm about their stance of Bernardo Silva not being for sale this summer. He was crucial to their success this past season, and Pep Guardiola doesn’t want to lose the player under any circumstances.
Bernardo Silva to stay at Manchester City with new contract to be offered
The midfielder has spent six years with Manchester City so far, and has been an extremely consistent performer since 2017. His current contract expires in 2025, and the board wants to extend his stay as he is one of the club’s most important players.
He was originally signed as a right-winger but has since been used as a central midfielder as well, and has flourished in both roles.
The 29-year-old forms the core of some of their more experienced players, such as Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker, Aymeric Laporte and Ederson. The rest, for the most part, are newer players who are yet to establish themselves in terms of experience and years spent in the senior squad.
Silva will be offered a new contract in the coming weeks, and discussions about his future will also take place to finalise a new deal.
