Manchester City prepared to pay a humongous agent fee for Erling Haaland

Manchester City have put Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland at the top of their transfer list for the summer of 2022. Pep Guardiola has been playing his lineup without an established number nine since the final days and departure of Sergio Aguero.

But now, it seems like one of the hottest prospects in world football could be headed to the Etihad. The interest from Manchester City is strong after failing to reach an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur last summer regarding a move for Harry Kane. Despite offering €100 million for Kane, he ended up staying at Tottenham for another season.

Haaland has a €75 million release clause that needs to be paid in one go. It will be valid from June 2022, which means that a number of top clubs will be in the race for the player such as Real Madrid.

However, the transfer will be more expensive than just that amount because of the agent fees. Mino Raiola, Haaland’s agent, has demanded an astronomical fee worth €40 million. On the other hand, Alf-Inge Haaland, the striker’s father, will demand €20 million for the transfer.

The transfer fee alone could rise to €135 million minimum, and Haaland’s wage demands would further drive up the money that it will take to recruit him. Due to Manchester City’s financial power, they can actually afford to pay that kind of money to sign Haaland. And the club have prepared themselves to pay the fee as the time to enter negotiations draws closer.
