Man Utd’s €50m bid for Lisandro Martinez not enough as Ajax want more

Manchester United are pushing to sign Lisandro Martinez as their new centre-back of the summer. New manager Erik Ten Hag is keen on a reunion with the Ajax defender, and wants the club to sign him as a priority.

Pau Torres was also among the list of potential targets, but Martinez is being preferred as of now. The Premier League club have made an offer worth €50 million plus bonuses for the Argentinian, but Ajax are still demanding more to let their man go. United’s rivals, Arsenal, are also in the race to sign the defender and he hasn’t rejected their proposal either.

Lisandro Martinez transfer down to Man Utd or Arsenal

It is clear that the player wants to try a new experience in the Premier League, and wants to make the switch. However, his destination as of yet is unclear. Both clubs will be in talks with Ajax over the coming days to finalise the transfer.

As a result, the next few days will be crucial in determining where the Argentine will end up this summer. United are in desperate need of reinforcements to their squad, while Arsenal are looking to add more depth. Personal terms have not been agreed with either club as of yet.

Manchester United have only confirmed the signing of Tyrell Malacia in defense so far. Christian Eriksen is expected to become the second, while Lisandro Martinez’s deal remains a matter to be sorted out by the board.
