Manchester City are expected to submit an opening bid for Marc Cucurella in the coming days. The Spanish left-back has been in great form during his first season in the Premier League, and has attracted interest from the reigning champions of England as a result.

The defender made the switch to the Seagulls from Getafe only last summer for £15 million, and still has several years remaining on his contract. As a result, Brighton are under no compulsion to sell the player anytime soon. But that hasn’t stopped Manchester City from wanting to sign the talented full-back.

Pep Guardiola wants options in the left-back position in the coming season. Benjamin Mendy has been suspended indefinitely due to his criminal record, and Oleksandr Zinchenko could be on his way out of the club this summer.

While Joao Cancelo has been more than capable to play left-back this past season, a rotational option is needed for the Sky Blues to maintain their dominance in every area on the pitch. As a result, Marc Cucurella is being discussed as a potential recruit for the club.

But with the presence of a talent like Cancelo, Cucurella would be restricted to the bench unless Kyle Walker vacates the right-back position. And the chances of that happening look quite slim. As a result, the chances of a move happening this summer look slim, but not impossible.
