Mahindra XUV700 arrives in New Zealand and starts at $36,990

The Mahindra XUV700 is a flagship SUV from Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra. It was launched in India in August 2021 and has already gained a lot of attention in the Indian market. The XUV700 is the successor to the popular Mahindra XUV500 and comes with a host of new features and improvements over its predecessor.

The car is so popular in India that its waiting time is over 1 year but as Mahindra is expanding its portfolio, bringing this XUV700 to international markets makes sense.

Design

The XUV700 has a bold and aggressive design with a muscular front grille, sharp LED headlamps, and a sloping roofline. It is available in both five-seater and seven-seater options. The interior of the car is spacious and comes with premium features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, and more.

Engine

The XUV700 is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 200 horsepower, while the diesel variant comes with a 2.2-litre engine that produces 185 horsepower. However, in New Zealand, the car will be available only in Petrol and so the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is the only option available.

Safety

Mahindra has equipped the XUV700 with a host of safety features such as front and side airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, and more. It also comes with advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and autonomous emergency braking.

Variants

The XUV700 is available in four different variants – MX, AX3, AX5, and AX7. The MX variant is the base variant and comes with standard features such as LED headlights, power windows, and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The top-end AX7 variant comes with all the bells and whistles such as a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 360-degree camera.

Though in New Zealand, this Mahindra XUV700 will be available in three variants: mid-trim AX5, high-end AX7 and ultra-premium AX7L. The prices have been kept competitive, starting at $36,990 for AX5, $40,990 for AX7 and $43,990 for the AX7 Luxury. The car will also be available in 5 colors: Everest White, Midnight Black, Dazzling Silver, Red Rage and Electric Blue.
