Madison Square Garden is one of the world’s most renowned venues of all-time. The stadium hosts concerts, sports and political events across the year, with a capacity of nearly 20,000.
The current complex is the fourth in its history, built over the Pennsylvania Station. Its two initial complexes were initially built in 1879 and 1890, which was over Madison Square, hence the name. The third was built at the intersection of Eighth Avenue and 50th Street.
Madison Square Garden: A look at its history
The arena hosts games across various sports such as ice hockey, basketball and MMA, with the insides changing dramatically within a few hours. The staff works around the clock to ensure that the different events are hosted in the best possible manner, with rapid set-up times.
Interestingly, the ice floor is always there with cooling machines present to take care of the temperature. When other sports or events are held, an extra floor is added on top of the ice to cater to the specific needs.
The changing rooms for various teams across sports are rather jam-packed, with not a lot of space available for the teams to make use of. The New York Knicks and Rangers both call Madison Square Garden their home ground, and in doing so, their dressing rooms are right next to one another.
