“Made in Korea” Season 2 Is Coming For Blood — And A Release Date

Power has a price, and Baek Ki Tae is about to find out just how steep it is. Disney+’s acclaimed noir thriller has finally confirmed its return, and the teaser alone is enough to send chills down fans’ spines.

Made in Korea: The Announcement

“Made in Korea,” Disney+’s prestige period crime drama, will return September 9 for a second and final season, with the streamer dropping a teaser trailer for the six-episode conclusion. The season will kick off with a two-episode premiere, followed by two episodes dropping each week through September 23.

What’s The Story This Time?

Season 2 picks up nine years after Season 1’s events, with Baek Kitae having framed the one prosecutor he couldn’t buy and risen to deputy director of the KCIA, growing his fortune and expanding his drug operations across the region. As political turmoil spreads, his old nemesis Jang Geonyoung steps out of the shadows to enact a carefully plotted revenge, with both men prepared to break every rule to eliminate the other once and for all.

What The Teaser Reveals

The pre-teaser opens with Baek Ki-tae seated before the presidential office desk, declaring he’s waited a very long time for this moment, before shifting into breathtaking action sequences hinting at a massive incident that shakes South Kore. The teaser poster shows Baek Ki Tae seated confidently as “Director Baek Ki Tae,” accompanied by the striking tagline: “Remember this. We’re doing this for our country, for patriotism.”

The biggest twist arrives in the teaser’s closing moments, when Jang Geon Young — defeated by Baek Ki Tae in Season 1 — makes an unexpected return, leaving Baek Ki Tae visibly stunned.

Why This Season Matters

Season 1 became Disney+’s most-watched Korean original of 2025 and was selected by TIME magazine as one of the “Most Anticipated Korean Dramas of 2026”. The same core creative team returns, with Park Eun-kyo, co-writer of Bong Joon Ho’s “Mother,” scripting every episode alongside director Woo Min-ho, known for political thrillers “The Man Standing Next” and “Inside Men”</cite>.

Set against the backdrop of Korea’s real political history, the show draws heavily on the tension and intrigue surrounding the KCIA, grounding its noir drama in genuine historical weight.
