macOS Ventura debuted a month after iOS 16, with many of the headline features making their Mac debut. macOS Ventura, which was introduced at WWDC 2022, is the current version of macOS, the operating system that runs on the Mac. macOS Ventura is a substantial upgrade that brings a new multitasking experience, overhauls several programmes, and adds improved platform features.
Here are some handy iOS 16 features available in macOS Ventura:
- Clock has an interface that is quite similar to that of the iPhone and iPad and includes all four functions – World Clock, Alarm, Stopwatch, and Timer. When timers are running on Mac, they are automatically displayed in the menu bar.
- The Weather app on Mac displays your current and other saved locations on the left, with the main screen displaying the current temperature and weather, as well as high/low temperatures, in the upper centre.
- The ability to unsend and edit iMessages, which debuted with iOS 16, is now accessible with macOS Ventura. However, accessing it differs from that of the iPhone and iPad. On a Mac, right-click an iMessage to get the Edit and Undo Send options.
- Apple’s Mail app on macOS Ventura, like Messages, has an unsend option, but you have a lot less time to utilise it. The default time to press the button is ten seconds.
The betas of iOS 16.3, iPadOS 16.3, and macOS Ventura 13.2 released to developers yesterday include support for physical security keys that may be used as additional protection for an Apple ID.
Apple unveiled the new feature last week and stated that it would be available in 2023, which corresponds to the release date of iOS 16.3 and its companion updates. Users will be able to add a third-party security key to their Apple ID account, which will be required for authentication when signing into a new device or otherwise using an Apple ID.
The Security Key is intended to replace the verification codes issued to Apple devices when logging into another device, which is the company’s usual form of authentication. According to Apple, physical security keys provide effective protection against phishing and unauthorised account access.
