Lukas Nmecha joins Wolfsburg on a permanent transfer

Wolfsburg have completed the signing of Lukas Nmecha from Manchester City on a permanent transfer. The player returns to the Bundesliga after spending the first half of the 19/20 season on loan at the German club. 

Nmecha has signed a four-year contract with Wolfsburg and has been signed for a reported fee of €13 million. The paperwork have been completed, and the player has put pen to paper to complete the transfer. City have included a buy-back clause in his contract, and they also have a 15% sell-on clause should he be sold anytime until 2025.Β

The 22-year-old operates as a centre forward and came through the Manchester City academy. He spent several spells out on loan at Wolfsburg, Middlesbrough and Anderlecht. Nmecha is currently a Germany U21 international and has made 20 appearances for them, scoring 12 goals. 

Here is what he had to say about his transfer: “Even though it wasn’t an easy time from a sporting perspective, I always felt comfortable in Wolfsburg and within the team. I am looking forward to seeing many familiar faces and showing what I can do. I was and still am convinced by the path the club has taken. I want to contribute to the club’s success and goals.”

He struggled during his initial loan spell at Wolfsburg, and then Middlesbrough. However, things started to improve for him during his time at Anderlecht. He scored 14 goals and provided 3 assists in the Belgian league, and now embarks on a new journey in his home country of Ger
