Luis Suarez bid an emotional farewell to Gremio fans after his final game in front of the home fans. The Uruguayan scored the 555th goal of his career in the 1-0 win over Vasco da Gama, but their chances of winning the title are over with Palmeiras four points ahead with one game to play.
The veteran is set to link-up with his friend and former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi, as well as Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba at Inter Miami once the new season begins. However, an official announcement is yet to confirm his arrival into the MLS.
Luis Suarez says emotional goodbye to Gremio after only one season
“I can feel pain, my body is speaking for me. I want to enjoy and then decide for myself after a long career,” the striker said.
“I need to rest, enjoy my family… then the destiny will know where I’ll be in the future”.
Luis Suarez scored 15 goals in 32 Serie A games this season, finishing as the third-best goalscorer in the entire division aged 36. He is still showing he has the ability to perform at the top level, and if he chooses to continue playing, he could make a huge impact if he arrives in the MLS alongside Messi, Busquets and Jordi Alba.
