The 33-year old Barcelona striker is in the limelight of his career and still he scores a healthy amount of goals that make him a valuable team member in the squad. But his contract ends at the end of 2020-21 season although his clause states that if he plays in 60% of next season’s matches, his contract with the club will automatically be extended until 2022.
Suárez told in an interview with RAC1 that he wants to end his current contract and eventually try to extend it for another year. Although the fact remains that Suárez does not want to go out but however, Major League Soccer (MLS) has a major attraction of the Uruguayan striker and many of the clubs are interested in landing him, according to Mundo Deportivo.
American football is a tempting choice for a lot of professionals who play in Europe, not because of their payscale but because a player of Suárez’s caliber and experience can be the image of campaign advertising in a very powerful market and eventually lead a good quality of life as well.
The first club to land him is David Beckham’s Inter Miami, who has already positioned itself to sign him, given that he believes that apart from sports performance, Suárez would be a great claim for the Hispanic colony in the city.
In November 2019, a compatriot of Luis, Nico Lodeiro, also spoke of his taste for the American League: “Luis wants to come to MLS. He likes the league. He always asks me questions about it. Hopefully, I can also play here for the Seattle Sounders. It can be a more difficult task. I think it’s only a matter of time before he is here. ”
Howsoever might be those rumors it doesn’t seem Suárez will actually leave this summer and is likely to stay this season as well and try for next season, until Barcelona however, lands a potential replacement for Saurez and its frontrunner is none other than Lautaro Martinez, who has been heavily linked with Barca, but as club president, Bartomeu openly said that their transfer talks have broken down.
