Lucky Ali, who rose to prominence in India’s music landscape during the 1990s and became an iconic figure in the Indipop culture, boasts a repertoire of immensely popular songs such as “O Sanam”, “Gori Teri Aankhen”, and “Teri Yaadein”, as well as film tracks like “Ek Pal Ka Jeena”, “Na Tum Jaano Na Hum”, “Aa Bhi Ja Aa Bhi Ja”, “Aahista Aahista”, and “Safarnama”.

Despite his success, Lucky Ali maintains that music has never been his career. Without formal training in music, he absorbed knowledge and skills while collaborating with industry professionals. He views music and composition as sources of enjoyment rather than a livelihood.

Lucky emphasizes the collaborative nature of music creation, attributing success to the entire team. He humorously acknowledges that if criticism arises, he will bear the brunt of it: “I take responsibility for it, aur agar chappal padne hain toh mujhe hi padenge” (If slippers have to be thrown, they will be thrown at me).

His modest yet extraordinary body of work reflects his disregard for the commercial aspects of music. He reiterates in the interview that if he had viewed music as a career, he would have compromised his artistic integrity.
