Lock Upp 2: Shilpa Shinde Opens Up About Being Estranged From Her Own Family

A moment of raw vulnerability unfolded on Lock Upp 2 as Shilpa Shinde, known for her tough exterior on the show, revealed a deeply painful chapter of her personal life — one involving estrangement from her mother and brother.

Lock Upp 2: Overview

What Shilpa Shared

The moment came after fellow contestant Shivangi Joshi used a game power to bring Shilpa’s personal secret into the open. Visibly emotional, Shilpa described feeling like an orphan despite having a living family, saying that people often talk about family as something everyone has, but that even with hers intact, she feels utterly alone.

She recounted being asked to leave her own Mumbai home at 11 PM, just five days after undergoing shoulder surgery — alleging that her brother, influenced by his wife, orchestrated the situation with her mother’s support. She said she believes circumstances were deliberately created to push her out, despite years of giving her all to the family.

Life After the Split

Shilpa shared that she has largely stepped away from living in Mumbai and now resides in Karjat instead. When work brings her back to the city, she stays in hotels or shelter homes rather than returning to her family home, often making excuses to avoid explaining the situation to others.

She also revealed she has formally cut ties with her family in her will, stating that part of her motivation for joining the show stems from a desire to eventually build a shelter home for others rather than a home for herself.
