Liverpool’s sporting structure finalised for post-Klopp era

Liverpool have finalised their new structure for the post-Klopp era, with a new technical and sporting director in place. Arne Slot has been signed on as the new manager, with the Dutchman leaving Feyenoord after winning the Eredivisie title last season.

Klopp’s departure is expected to bring a number of changes in the first team, as well as behind the scenes. And the club has prepared well in advance to make it as smooth a transition as possible in the coming months.

Richard Hughes has been named the new sporting director while Julian Ward has returned to Liverpool and will be the technical director.

Pedro Marques will join the club as their new director of football development on June 1, having previously worked for Benfica. The Portuguese side have been very successful in recent years in terms of talent development and sporting success, and Marques could provide Liverpool with a similar boost. He has also worked with City Football Group in the past, back when they were drawing up their plans for expansion across the globe.

As a result, there is a complete hierarchy already in place to support Arne Slot when he comes in for preseason in a month’s time.
